Ceremony marking School of National Defence Day

A ceremony to mark the “Field Marshal Radomir Putnik” School of National Defence Day has been held at the lecture theatre of the School of National Defence.

The ceremony was attended by State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia Nemanja Starović, Rector of the Defence University Brigadier General Prof. Boban Đorović, PhD, Head of the Human Resources Directorate (J-1, General Staff) Brigadier General Savo Iriškić, Second Army Brigade Commander Brigadier General Siniša Stašević and other guests.
After the anthem of the Republic of Serbia was performed by the “Stanislav Binički” Artistic Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence, congratulations messages from the Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević and the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, were read.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Head of the “Field Marshal Radomir Putnik” School of National Defence, Colonel Mićo Suvajac, greeted the audience and thanked them for attending the celebration hosted by the School of National Defence. He presented the school’s work results achieved in the recent period. Following this, certificates of appreciation were presented to the 2nd Army Brigade and the Technical Overhaul Institute “Čačak”, as well as financial incentives to members of the School of National Defence for successful cooperation.
The Rector of the Defence University, Brigadier General Prof. Boban Đorović, PhD, said that, recognizing the importance of the School of National Defence and its long-standing tradition of offering education and training to officers of our armed forces after they complete their basic studies at the Military Academy, two years ago it was decided that this school would bear the name of the oldest among the field marshals of the Serbian Army, Radomir Putnik. And rightly so, because Field Marshal Putnik was the embodiment of all the key tasks of this school.
    - Today, the first task of the teachers at the School of National Defence is to ask their students to think and find creative solutions to the problems they will encounter in practice. Simple knowledge reproduction is out of the question, and templates can only serve as a starting point for reaching higher aims. Our goal is for officers to leave the School of National Defence with greater self-confidence, based on broader knowledge, ability to do independent research and excellent knowledge of the methods and rules of academic writing for the preparation of professional papers, said Brigadier General Đorović.
